If you hadn’t noticed yet, we’ve posted our May event listings which is chock-a-block full of fun stuff all month. There’s craft markets, burlesque performances, tulips, and so much more. If it’s too long to read, here are a few highlights that we think are definitely worth marking on your calendar!

Night Shift: Magnetic Threads

When: Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 6pm
Where: Museum of Anthropology, UBC, Point Grey
What is it: Visit Museum of Anthropology (MOA) for Night Shift: Magnetic Threads for an evening of music, dance and interactive art that explores our bodies relationship with woven materials. (more info)

The Lust Jedi: A Sci-Fi Burlesque Adventure

When: Friday, May 4 – Sunday, May 6, 2018 at 7pm
Where: The Rio Theatre
What is it: Featuring a cast of 29 of Geekenders all-star nerdlesque performers, the event and theatre troupe is pulling out all the stops to ensure a memorable, sexy, nerd-herding night for geeks of all types (more info)

shipyards night market 2018

North Vancouver Shipyards Market

When: Every Friday night, starting May 4
Where: Lower Lonsdale, North Vancouver
What is it: The weekly summer night market on the North Shore with live music, a beer garden, (A LOT of) food, art, music… Dogs are allowed and you can by things like jewelry, clothing, baking, organic meats, and much more. (more info)

Got Craft? Spring Edition

When: Saturday, May 5 – Sunday, May 6
Where: Maritime Labour Centre 1880 Triumph Street
What is it: Huge craft fair featuring jewelry, clothing, ceramics, stationery, housewares, plush toys, and more including food carts and hands-on workshops. (more info)

PechaKucha Night Vol. 45

When: Tuesday, May 8, at 7:30pm
Where: The Vogue Theatre
What is it: PechaKucha Night is a fun and informal event where people can meet, inspire and get inspired, based on a format that is fast-paced and fun. (more info)

Taboo Revue Burlesque Variety Show

When: Friday, May 11, at 8:00pm
Where: The WISE Hall
What is it: Join a cast of over 20 teasers will tantalize your senses with an evening of dreamy dances, glamorous group numbers, and hilarious comedic antics. (more info)

Spot Prawn Festival

When: Saturday, May 13
Where: False Creek Fishermen’s Wharf, 1505 West 1st Avenue
What is it: Each year at the Spot Prawn Festival, Chefs’ Table Society member chefs from across the Lower Mainland serve you fresh-from-the-boat spot prawns. (more info)

richmond night market 2018

Richmond Night Market

When: Every weekend starting Friday, May 11, 2018
Where: 8351 River Road, Richmond
What is it: The biggest night market in Richmond with hundreds of food and merchandise booths, giant dinosaurs, and lots more surprises. (more info)

Burlesque Long Form

When: Saturday, May 12, 2018
Where: Rio Theatre
What is it: In an artistic challenge set by producer and noted performer April O’Peel, local luminaries will have one chance to perform a full ten minute act. (more info)

Science World After Dark: Science Slam!

When: Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 7pm
Where: Science World
What is it: Experience Science World without the kids. As usual, there will be science and terrific entertainment at this 19+ event. (more info)

Carded!

When: Saturday, May 26, 2018
Where: The Arts Factory
What is it: An annual one-night only show of art on trading cards. Buy, collect, and trade art! This is the 10th annual and final show at the Arts Factory. (more info)

Veg Expo 2018

When: Sunday, May 27, 2018
Where: Vancouver Convention Centre, West
What is it: A day for the entire family to enjoy with an interactive kid zone, cooking demonstrations with local celebrated chefs, information on locally sourced foods and products, sustainable home and transit zones, vegetation lounge, fitness showcase, and of course – lots of SAMPLES! Ongoing: Abbotsford Tulip Festival

When: On until mid-May, depending on the bloom
Where: Abbotsford
What is it: Spring is here and the tulips are in bloom. Pack a tasty picnic basket, or visit one of the convenient food trucks on-site and enjoy a fun filled day with family and friends. Your Instagram feed will thank you. (more info)
