While not the most impressive of Canada day celebrations, Vancouver tries its best with a parade and fireworks show. The festival begins at 11 with the parade at 7, followed by the Canada day burrard Inlet Firewords show at 10:30. (Warning: this is NOT the festival of light)
Canada Cup of Beer
July 9 & 10 at UBC Thunderbird Stadium
Vancouver's largest beer festival. Last year's event boasted over 36 vendors with microbrews, domestic brands and specialty import products. Tickets are $15 for Friday, 20$ for Saturday and $30 for a 2 day pass.

Wiener Dog Races

Thought the Hastings Racecourse was just for horses? Think again. It’s time to witness little wiener dogs running around! Who will be the weiner? This race is going to the dogs. Hopefully the race is not too “ruff”.

Festival Of Light Firework Festival

The largest fireworks festival competition in British Columbia takes place in English Bay in the last 2 weeks of July. Join half of Vancouver's population on the beaches of Kitsilano and English bay. (Drive up cypress mountian, west vancouver area if you want some peace and quiet).
Caribbean Days Festival
July 24-25 North Vancouver
Held just a block from the Seabus terminal, this is a weekend of tropical rhythm, cuisine, carnival and culture as only the Caribbean can offer. Over the years, the Festival has grown into the largest Caribbean event on the local calendar—and with thousands of attendees it is the largest single-weekend cultural event in BC, period.
Canadian National BBQ Championshops 2010
July 31 - Aug 1st in Whistler
The Canadian National BBQ Championships competition is the highlight of the Pacific Northwest's competitive BBQ circuit, and a draw qualifier event for the American Royal World Championships in Kansas City as well as the Jack Daniel's World Championship BBQ event in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Hopefully, there will also be free food.
Vancouver Lantern Festival
Date to be announced, Trout Lake Park
Locals make lanterns out of paper and bring them to Trout Lake where everone walks around and shows them off. There is also music, fire breathers and a little bit of fireworks. Definately a summer highlight, and great for all ages.
