Vancouver International Jazz Festival

When is it? June 24 – July 3, 2016
Who’s performing? Ms. Lauryn Hill, Sarah Mclachlan, Mimosa, Joe Jackson, Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog (full lineup)
Where is it being held: Various locations in Vancouver
How much for tickets:  No festival passes, you’ll have to pay per performance at various venues around Vancouver. Tickets range from $22-$50. A lot of free events outdoors in public places as well.
How much is camping? No camping.
What to expect: The smooth sounds of jazz.

Tall Tree Music Festival

When is it? June 30 – July 3, 2016
Who’s performing? 
Mother Mother, Current Swell, Shad, Nahko & Medicine for the people, Bear Mountain, DJ Dan, Mat the Alien, Dirty Radio (full lineup)
Where is it being held: Browns Mountain, Port Renfrew, BC
How much for tickets: Festival pass: $165, Camping Pass: $60
What to expect: local talent, no negative energy, a community event that takes place on the side of a mountain.

FVDED in the Park

Where is it being held: Holland Park, Surrey
How much for tickets: 2 day passes: $190, 1 day pass $110
How much is camping? Not sure if you’d want to camp in Surrey…
Who should go: People who don’t mind that Faded is spelled with a v. Those who want to dance to EDM music outdoors!

Basscoast

Who’s performing?
One of the lineup members is called “Bleep Bloop” so that should tell you all you need to know right there! (full lineup)
Where is it being held: Merritt, BC
How much for tickets: Tickets are already sold out, so time to start scouring Craigslist.
How much is camping? Extra depending on where you camp.
Who should go: People who like electronic music, drugs, dancing, smaller festival settings, local DJs, good times and art

Centre of Gravity

Skrillex, Ice Cube, Afrojack, Machine Gun Kelly, Showtek, Kid Ink, Destructo, Kap Slap, etc… (full lineup)
Where is it being held: Kelowna, BC
How much for tickets: Tickets cost $190 for general admission
How much is camping? No camping.
What to expect: Not fully a music festival, this beach festival in Kelowna features will likely feature tons of artists, sports (volleyball, wakeboarding, skateboarding, BMX) and lots of other stuff.

Pemberton Music Festival

Who’s performing?
Snoop Dogg, Pearl Jam, The Killers, J. Cole, Kanye West!?!? (just kidding), Kaskade, Wiz Khalifa, Bassnectar, Ice Cube, Halsey, BIlly Idol… (full lineup)
Where is it being held: Pemberton Valley
How much for tickets: $315 for full access all days
How much is camping? Camping is sold out, so you gotta shuttle.
Who should go: The only mainstream music festival in the Vancouver area with the disappearance of Squamish Festival. Good times for those who love popular music and throwback Thursdays.

Vancouver Folk Music Festival 2016

Where is it being held: Jericho Beach, Vancouver
How much for tickets: Adult weekend pass: $155, Student: $120
How much is camping? No camping.
What to expect: Folk music, white people dancing, a really good craft market, laid back vibes.

Rock the Shores Festival

City and Colour, Metric, Arkells, Eagles of Death Metal, The Cat Empire, July Talk, The New Pornographers, Big Wreck, Yukon Blonde (full lineup)
Where is it being held: Colwood, BC (Vancouver Island)
How much for tickets: General 3 day ticket = $150, day pass = $65
How much is camping? No camping.
What to expect: Rocker-type crowd. This year features a site-wide open license, so no more gated beer garden!

Rockin River Music Festival

Who’s performing?
 Sam Hunt, Brent Lee, Chris Buck Band, Rod Black, basically a lot of guys in cowboy hats… (full lineup)
Where is it being held: Merritt, BC
How much for tickets: 4-day general admission: $229, 1 day access pass: $119
How much is camping? $60 – $180 depending on where you’re staying
What to expect: Remember the Merrit Mountain Music Festival? This is similar, except maybe more family-friendly? Ya right. It’s country music. Except day drinking, cowboy hats, and lots of short shorts.

Shambhala

Josh Pan, Bleep Bloop,  Opiuo, Defunk, The Wddler, The Noisy Freaks, and more… (full lineup)
Where is it being held: Salmo River Ranch, BC (near Nelson)
How much for tickets: Tickets are already sold out, so time to start scouring Craigslist.
What to expect: A dreamy, nature-loving oasis in the middle of BC, all-night dance parties, amazing costumes, chilling by the river, drug induced dancing, lazers, and lots of fun. Life changing.

Atmosphere

What to expect: A boutique dance festival with the best of live and electronic music in the intimate west coast village of Cumberland.

How much is camping? No camping.
What to expect: Victoria residents know how to party. More laid back and fun than other festivals. Good way to end off the summer with a BANG!

    You guys forgot about Vancouver Island MusicFest, it’s held in Comox on the island every summer and this year I’m finally old enough to volunteer there myself too! Lots of venues and people from Canada playing at this one, there’s a cute little river nearby the fest to go swimming and there’s a bit of stuff for kids to have fun there too if you have any ahah
