If you weren’t lucky enough to get an invitation to the exclusive Diner en Blanc happening this Thursday, fear not – there’s a free public picnic on the same night that’s inviting everyone in Vancouver to come out and party!
The antithesis of Diner en Blanc, Ce Soir Noir (This Black Night) is an inclusive, free public picnic being held at Crab Park. The only rule for this party? You must be wearing black clothing.
In any case, Ce Soir Noir is an excuse to crack open a cold one with a bunch of friends in a beautiful park on a (hopefully) sunny Thursday. All you need to do is bring food, drink, friends, a big blanket, and maybe a fresh bottle of blowing bubbles.
The event will technically be held from 5pm until 10pm, but you can show up whenever you feel like it.
In case you’re feeling a little extra generous, the event is also partnering with Backpack Buddies, an organization that distributes food to children in need in the DTES. Bring a child oriented foot item (maybe some fruit roll-ups, rather than another stale can of Tuna) or a cash donation and drop it off at their booth.
