Cypress Mountain is about to become the first local mountain to open for the 2015/2016 ski and snowboard season after announcing that they are planning to open for business this Friday, November 20.
It has been heavily snowing for the past few days and over 20 to 30 cm of snow has fallen at the Cypress Base and 30 to 40 cm at the top of the mountain. There are also snow guns blasting around the clock, so even more snow is stockpiling up.
The Downhill area will likely be open on Friday (the Nordic area will be opened November 28, which includes cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and tubing).
No news yet about Grouse Mountain or Mount Seymour, but likely they won’t be too far behind.
Downhill tickets cost $40 if you don’t have a pass. Check out Cypress Mountain on Facebook to find out what runs they will be opening and if any discounts will be offered for early birds.
