New: Check out the list of Haunted houses in Vancouver for 2016 here.
If you’re looking to get a little scared this Halloween season, there certainly is no shortage of haunted houses in Vancouver to get your heart rate racing faster than that moment when you check your bank account balance.
For a little scream therapy this year, check out one (or all!) of the haunted houses in Vancouver for 2015 as listed below:
The ultimate collection of haunted houses in one convenient location, Fright Nights at Playland is always a go-to place for pre-Halloween festivities in Vancouver. This year, Fright Nights has 7 haunted houses, 15 rides, performers, and professional scarers walking around the park hoping to make your nightmares come true.
Location: Playland (2901 East Hastings Street)
Dates: Open from October 9 – November 1st on weekends and select days.
Price: $22 – $35 online and $25 – $40 at the gate (price varies by popularity of date)
Scare factor: The variety of haunted houses is great and will scare most people, but the roving scary performers are most memorable in terms of nightmares.
Immersive, interactive, and f*cking terrifying is their slogan… This fully immersive haunted house will take you through the horrors of Greek Mythology with 14 themed rooms with traps, monsters, obstacles, and more than an hour of haunting to evade their wrath. There’s a VIP lounge at the location, so if you need a little pick-me-up after all that scariness, Granville Island Brewing will be providing some beer.
Location: 14211 Burrows Road, Richmond
Dates: Open from October 23rd until November 22nd
Price: $66.66 for general entry. $86.66 for a VIP experience.
Scare factor: Nightmare worthy. Similar to the escape game experience, but with more screaming involved.
This haunted house-like experience is hosted at Metrotown and this year is promising to have bigger and badder scares (there were some complaints it was too tame/boring last year-or so we heard). The theme is Asylum, so you know things are going to get a little crazy.
Location: Upper Level of Metrotown in between Winner’s and the Silvercity Movie Theatre.
Dates: Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays from October 15 – October 31st
Price: $13 for general admission, $20 for VIP (limited wait time)
Scare factor: Last year there were rumours that Gravecouver wasn’t that scary, so hopefully this year they’ll step it up.
Chinatown Haunted House
This is Vancouver’s only haunted house NOT suitable for children. The Sun Yet Sen Classical Chinese Garden is transformed into a terrifying Haunted House. Featuring over a dozen actors, dancers and musicians, this one-of-a-kind experience is inspired by the gruesome stories of Judge Dee: China’s Sherlock Holmes.
Location: The Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden (578 Carrall St, Vancouver)
Dates: October 21 – 31 from 7:00 until 10:00pm
Price: $14 for admission
Scare factor: We’ve heard conflicting reports, some say it’s really scary and others say it’s only worth a good scream or two. You be the judge!
Potter’s House of Horrors
This Surrey-based haunted house is known for having some of the creepiest and thrilling scares in Vancouver. This is the kind of place that really gets a kick out of giving you a huge scare. If you can’t bring yourself to walk through either haunted house, you can always add your name to the “Chickened Out” list that sits outside the entrance.
Location: 12530 72nd avenue, Surrey BC
Dates: October 9 – 31st with family hour from 5-6:30pm and regular ultra scary show from 7-10pm
Price: $14 – 16 for one house, $25 – $30 for two (price varies by popularity of date)
Scare factor: This place is scary. Scarier than walking the streets of Surrey at night. Sorry, Surrey, had to get that in there.
Reaper’s Haunted House in Chilliwack
This Halloween-themed attraction that “rivals scare houses at Disneyland and other major attractions” is worth the drive out to the country. Thought mazes were scary enough as it is? How about entering a MAZE OF TERROR? Or, you can just check out the haunted house with new scares and themes each weekend including zombies & killer clowns.
Location: 9423 Gibson Road, Chilliwack
Dates: Open on the weekends now, open daily starting Friday, October 16th from 7pm – 10pm until October 31st
Price: Reapers $10, Maze $10, combo $18
Scare factor: The maze of terror may have you lying on the ground, curled in a ball, crying for mommy.
Ghost Ridge in Maple Ridge
Volunteer-run, this haunted house takes place in a 9,000 square foot dairy barn and boasts huge participation from local organizations and high schools. (Because nothing is quite as scary as a pack of teenagers!) Great effects, freaky atmosphere, and an interesting theme that sounds like it’s about clowns…
Location: Albion Fairgrounds, 23448 105 Ave, Maple Ridge
Dates:Open Oct 23, 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30 from 6 pm-9pm
Price: $8 per person
Scare factor: Everyone gets very into giving you a great scare, which is one of the best aspects of haunted houses.
