Can you believe it’s December already? Only a few more weeks until Christmas and then on to 2016! Time flies, but luckily for us there’s a lot of things happening in town to get into the holiday spirit and have fun with burlesque, pancakes, and lots and lots of Star Wars. We’ve just published our full list of December Events in Vancouver, but to make it a bit easier for you, we’ve compiled a list of 12 things to do that sound especially interesting this month:

Burlesque Tribute to Star Wars

When: Wednesday, December 2 at 7pm
Where: Rio Theatre (1660 E Broadway)
What is it: Love in Alderaan Places is a combination of numbers from all of Geekender’s sold-out, smash-hit Star Wars burlesque spectaculars creating one big ball of cabaret love in time for The Force Awakens. (more info)

Pancakes & Booze Art Show

When: Thursday, December 3 at 7pm
Where: Fortune Sound Club (147 E. Pender Street)
What is it: Underground art show, free pancakes, over 50 emerging artists, booze, body painting, live music… Did we mention there will be free pancakes? (more info)

Yule Duel

When: Thursday, December 3 at 6pm
Where: Water Street, Gastown
What is it: Gastown’s first annual Yule Duel draws together choirs from across Metro Vancouver for a magical, yet highly competitive, night of singing. Imagine Pitch Perfect, but with Christmas tunes. (more info)

Make It! Craft Fair

When: Thursday, December 3 – 6
Where: PNE Forum (2901 E Hastings Street)
What is it: Get all your Christmas shopping done early at this one-of-a-kind craft market featuring over 250 artisans, designers, and crafters. There’s also booze and food carts to keep everyone happy. (more info)

Nightmare before the Nutcracker

When: December 4, 5, 11, 12
Where: Rio Theatre (1660 E Broadway)
What is it: A dramatic comedy reimagination of The Nightmare Before Christmas based on the classic story of ‘The Nutcracker’. Includes burlesque, circus, music, and theatre. (more info)

When: Saturday, December 5 – Sunday, December 6
Where: Pipe Shop (North Vancouver Shipyards)
What is it: The Eastside Flea is coming to North Vancouver to bring their community event full of friendly faces, cool tunes, local vendors and amazing goods! (more info)

Taboo Revue Holiday Spectacular

When: Saturday, December 5 at 8pm
Where: Wise Hall (1882 Adanac Street)
What is it: Imagine over 20 performers showcasing a variety of dance, song, comedy, and (of course) scintillating striptease. Whether you’re naughty or nice this show will have something to make you merry this festive season. (more info)

The Walt Disney Song Book

When: Wednesday, December 9
Where: Fox Cabaret (2321 Main Street)
What is it: Is your iPod full of an embarrassing number of Disney songs that you can sing every word to? Embrace the Disney and relive the magic of your childhood (…) through new interpretations of your favourite Disney classics performed by some of Canada’s finest artists! (more info)

Santarchy/Santacon 2015

When: Saturday, December 12 at noon
Where: Undisclosed yet
What is it: People get dressed up as Santa, get nice and drunk, and run around Vancouver causing mayhem. It’s awesome. (more info)

Free Christmas Movies at the Vogue Theatre

When: December 13 – 15
Where: The Vogue Theatre (918 Granville Street)
What is it: The Vogue Theatre is offering up three great Christmas classics for free, just bring in a can of non-perishable food to enter. Movies include The Polar Express, Love Actually, and Die Hard! (more info)

Keithmas a Food Bank FundRAGER

When: Friday, December 18 at 8pm
Where: Rickshaw Theatre (254 E Hastings)
What is it: Keith Richards will turn 72 this year and you can be there to celebrate in the company of 9 or so incredible bands playing their collective asses off doing the Stones/Keef songbook and drinking an ungodly amount of Jack Daniels. (more info)

Winter Solstice Lantern Festival

When: Monday, December 21 at 6pm
Where: Many neighbourhoods
What is it: Celebrate this warm and festive community event with a glowing constellation of lanterns shining in four Vancouver neighbourhoods. 6-10pm. Yaletown, Granville Island, Chinatown. (more info)
